The Perfect Lie Opens at 1.9% as Doctor X Keeps Its Lead
MBC's psychological thriller The Perfect Lie, starring Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin, premiered to 1.9 percent nationwide against SBS's Doctor X.
01A Quiet First Night
MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama The Perfect Lie premiered on October 30, and its first episode recorded 1.9 percent nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea figures reported by Soompi, the Hankook Ilbo and Joy News 24. Topstar News describes the drama as a reunion for Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin, ten years after they last worked together.
02Doctor X Still Leads, but Slips
The new thriller faced a hard rival in the same slot. SBS's Doctor X: Mafia in White, led by Kim Ji-won, scored 16.5 percent that night, roughly eight times the newcomer's figure. Joy News 24 points out that this was also the first drop for Doctor X, down 3.0 points from its series high of 19.5 percent.
03Two People, One Memory
Directed by Jo Young-min, The Perfect Lie is a psychological thriller about a man and a woman who remember the same night in completely opposite ways. According to the Hankook Ilbo, Seo Hyun-jin plays Kang Ji-sun, an elementary school librarian, and Yoo Yeon-seok plays Min Jun-ho, a heart surgeon. What starts as a romance turns into a criminal case the day after their first date, when Ji-sun reports Jun-ho to the police and he is arrested, while each insists the other is lying.
The drama airs on MBC on Fridays and Saturdays.
