The Blue Road, a Korea-Japan Crime Thriller With Son Suk-ku and Eita Nagayama, Is Reported for November 20 on Netflix
Netflix's cross-border serial-murder series The Blue Road is reported to premiere on November 20. Here is what Netflix has confirmed about the story and cast, and what is still reported only by outlets.
01Release date: reported, not yet on Netflix's own page
The Blue Road is reported to premiere on Netflix on November 20, 2026. What's on Netflix says the streaming service has officially confirmed that date, and Soompi gives the same date. However, Netflix's own title page for the series only says "coming soon," so we are treating the date as reported until Netflix's page shows it.
02The story
Netflix describes a cross-border crime thriller in which two detectives, one from Korea and one from Japan, investigate a series of murders involving twisted bodies and dying messages. The case starts in Tokyo with a body bearing a Korean message written in blood ink. A similar case with a Japanese message then appears in Korea, authorities conclude that a serial killer is operating across countries, and the joint investigation leads from Seoul to Tokyo and beyond. The series is based on the webcomic Blue Road; during production it was announced under the working title Road (WT).
03Cast and director
Netflix lists Son Suk-ku as a detective from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Mobile Investigation Unit and Eita Nagayama as a detective from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigation Division. Kim Shin-rock plays a facilitator of Korean-Japanese descent, Choi Sung-eun plays a National Intelligence Service agent, and Jung Jae-young plays a powerful figure whose identity is not known. Han Jun-hee directs.
04Busan screening
Three episodes had their world premiere in the On Screen section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, which ran from October 6 to 15, according to What's on Netflix and Soompi. The number of episodes has not been stated in the sources we checked. We will update this story when Netflix confirms the date on its own pages.
